Today is the eighth anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. We hope that our readers have an opportunity to attend the remembrance ceremony at the Village Green and Gazebo next to Village Hall at 7 p.m.. Garden City suffered great losses that day - help honor their memory and comfort their families with your presence.

School started this week children throughout the region. Please be especially careful driving on Village streets at times when the buses are rolling. Children getting on and off buses may not be paying attention to other traffic in the street. Look out for them in case they aren't looking out for you.

The Town of Hempstead has announced that it will be holding a public hearing on re-zoning the property for the Lighthouse project in East Garden City. The meeting will be held in three sessions: from 9:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.; from 2 p.m.- 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the John Cranford Adams Playhouse at Hofstra University, Hempstead Turnpike, Hempstead. The public will have an opportunity to voice its opinion.
