Local Artists Present Gallery Exhibition

2009-09-11 / Community

visions '09, an exhibition of photographs by the Photo Artists' Network, will be featured at the Barnes Gallery in Garden City South from October 1st through October 31st.

Photo Artists' Network is a group comprised of twelve serious amateur photographers dedicated to the principle that "photography is art." Education, expansion of our knowledge base, and sharing of the principles of photography are the bases upon which the group exists. The members share their thoughts, views and concepts at regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year. The group maintains a limited membership with new members added by invitation only. The members of the group are not just observers, but deeply committed practitioners of the art of photography. They believe photography is life distilled and preserved for eternity in many ways. Photos convey, in ways little else can, a sense of mystery and beauty, of life and nature. The works of the group are shared with others through various exhibitions and displays throughout the New York area. Photo Artists' Network has exhibited at the Shelter Rock Library, Pathways Women's Health and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Manhasset. The members are: Jan Altes, John Bruno, Barbara Field, Phyllis Goodfriend, Haig Hachedoorian, George Novello, Linda Russo, Ray Saperstein, John Siegel, Marvin Silverman, Jack Sirota and Sherman Wolfson.

Photo Artists' Network can be contacted through Jan Altes (917) 592-8259 or at ynotlaf@aol.com.

The Barnes Gallery is open from Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (516) 538-4503. Meet the artists on October 3rd at 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Gallery.
