Fall Storytime and Book Discussion

Registration

The registration for all storytimes and book discussions begins on Monday, September 14 at 9:30am. Storytime registration can be done either online at www.gardencitypl.org or in person. Book discussion registration may only be done in the Children's Department.

Storytime Schedule

Mother Goose Storytime : For children ages 18-29 months with a parent or caregiver. Sign up for one of the two sessions. Program is thirty minutes long.

Session I (children born April 2007 - March 2008):

Mondays at 10:00AM - October 5,19, 26, November 2, 9 (no October 12)

Thursdays at 10:00AM or 11:00AM - October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Session II ( children born May 2007 - April 2008):

Mondays at 10:00AM - November 16, 23 , 30, December 7,14

Thursdays at 10:00AM or 11:00AM - November 5,12,19, December 3,10 (no November 26)

You and Your Toddler Storytime : For children ages 2 1/2 - 3 1/2, born March 2006 - March 2007, with a parent or caregiver. Sign up for one session. Program is thirty minutes long.

Mondays at 11:00AM or 7:30PM: October 5 - November 30 (no October 12)

Tuesdays at 11:00AM: September 29 - December 1 (No November 3)

Little Listeners Storytime : For children ages 3 - 5, born April 2005 - September 2006, not yet in Kindergarten, without an adult. Sign up for one session. Program is thirty minutes long.

Mondays at 1:30PM: October 5 - November 30 (no October 12)

Wednesdays at 11:00AM: September 30 - December 2 (no November 11, 25)

Thursdays at 1:30PM: October 1 - December 3 (no November 26)

Preschool Storytime : For children ages 3 1/2 - 5, born March 2005 - March 2006, not yet in Kindergarten, without an adult. Sign up for one session. Program is thirty minutes long.

Tuesdays at 1:30PM: September 30 - December 1 (no November 3)

Wednesdays at 10:00AM or 1:30PM: September 30 - December 2 (no November 11, 25)

Pajama Storytime : For children ages 3-6. Program is thirty minutes long.

Wednesdays at 7:30PM: September 30 - December 2(no November 11, 25)

Kindergarten Storytime : For children presently enrolled in Kindergarten. Sign up for one session. Program is forty - five minutes long.

Tuesdays at 3:45PM: September 29 - December 1 (no November 3)

Thursdays at 3:45PM: October 1 - December 3 (no November 26)

First Grade Storytime : For children presently enrolled in First Grade. Program is forty-five minutes.

Mondays at 3:45PM: October 5 - November 30 (no October 12)

Book Discussions for Children in Grades 2-5

Chapter Chat : For children presently enrolled in Second Grade. Program is forty-five minutes long. Sign up for both sessions.

Wednesday, October 7 at 4:00PM - Roscoe Riley Rules # 1: Never Glue Your Friends to Chairs by Katherine Applegate. Wednesday, November 4 at 4:00PM - 2nd Grade Friends: Veterans Day Visitor by Peter Catalanotto.

New Friends in a Book Club: For children presently enrolled in Third Grade. Program is forty-five minutes long. Sign up for both sessions.

Wednesday, October 14 at 4:00PM - I Was a Third Grade Science Project by Mary Jane Auch, and Wednesday, November 18 at 4:00PM - Gooney Bird and the Room Mother by Lois Lowry.

Go Forth! Fourth Grade Book Club: For children presently enrolled in Fourth Grade. Program is forty-five minutes long. Sign up for both sessions.

Wednesday, October 7 at 4:00PM - The War With Grandpa by Robert Kimmel Smith, and Wednesday, December 2 at 4:00PM - Moon Runner by Carolyn Marsden.

The Page Turners : A book discussion group for children in the Fifth Grade. Each meeting we'll discuss a book, talk about old favorites and new, and more! Bring a brown bag dinner. Sign up for both sessions. Thursday, October 8 at 5:30PM - Night of Mystery featuring Disappearing Acts by Betsy Byars, and Thursday, November 12 at 5:30PM: Fantastic Fantasy featuring Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit.

Please check the library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
