Lilly & Jon Schwieger with Margaret Dueker manning the Parish Ministries tent. The time is drawing near. In two weeks many will gather at St Anne's to celebrate the annual festival, known as Spirit Day. On Saturday, September 19th the areas in and around New Hyde Park Rd and Dartmouth St will be transformed into a carnival-like atmosphere. The hard work, planning and execution of such an event fall on the shoulders of many within the community. For those involved in such an undertaking, the results are quite humbling. Each year, Spirit Day is a financial success for the Parish and its ministries. However, in addition to that, the volunteers reap something just as important.

The saying goes that many hands make light work. That work can be a labor of love. The volunteers involved with Spirit Day can attest to that. They are living their Faith by sacrificing their free time, for the common good. It is truly the Spirit within that drives them toward making this day a reality.

So when you attend Spirit Day this year, seek out the volunteers (they are the ones wearing those familiar polo shirts), and thank them for their efforts. You'll be glad you did.
