Msgr. John's Knights Support The Walk To Defeat ALS
John Lappas
John Lappas, a parishioner of St. Anne's parish for over 20 years and an active member of Msgr. John's Knights has been stricken with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease". This is a neuro-degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, and then progresses to the muscles throughout the body. ALS affects nearly 300,000 people worldwide. The disease makes even life's simplest tasks of walking, speaking, eating, or breathing impossible. Unfortunately, the cause, cure and means to control the disease are still unknown and funding for research is essential to the fight.
Members of Msgr. John's Knights and their families will be joining John and his family to "Walk to defeat ALS" on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Eisenhower Park. Check-in is at 9:30 AM and the walk begins at 11:00AM. The walk route is approximately 3 miles and is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Please consider joining Team Lappas to walk with us. You can register online at www.alswalks.org Team Name: John Lappas, Team Type-Family Team. Any other questions please e-mail to JALALSWALKATHON@hotmail.com. If you cannot walk with us, please consider donating which can be done through the same website. All of the funds raised for the Walk will support local families who are living with the devastating effects of Lou Gehrig's disease. Your donation is tax-deductible.
Please join us to help support this worthy cause for John Lappas, our Brother Knight, friend, neighbor and fellow parishioner.
