The next general meeting of the Western Property Owners Association (WPOA) will be held on Wednesday, September 16, at 7:30 p.m. at Homestead School. (Please note the earlier start time for the WPOA general meetings.) Guest speaker Kevin Ocker, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Recreational and Cultural Affairs will share with residents the many programs available in the Village of Garden City. All residents of the Western Section are welcome to attend.

In addition, at this meeting, a Nominating Committee will be formed to review applications and interview candidates for the position of Village Trustee, a two-year term that begins in April 2010. Any resident of the Western Section of the Village who is interested in applying for the position of trustee is urged to submit a letter of interest and a resume to: Melanie Henderson, WPOA Secretary, 22 Fenimore Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530.

The WPOA invites residents to see the newest feature on the association's website, www.gcwpoa.com. As part of the Board of Directors' desire to be response to its residents' inquiries and suggestions, the WPOA is now posting answers, when available, to questions raised at general meetings. The WPOA hopes this will help keep residents attuned to what's going on in the Western Section.

The Western Section of Garden City is bordered on the north by the main line of the LIRR, on the east by the west side of Tanners Pond and Edgemere Roads, on the south by Cambridge Avenue and on the west by Jefferson Street.
