ON TUESDAY, September 8 , the Herricks Community Players has announced it will hold auditions for its upcoming fall show at the Herricks Community Theater, 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park. The show this year is entitled Beau Jest, by James Sherman and it's a hysterical comedy about a Jewish girl, who is dating a non-Jewish man, but for he father's birthday, she hires an actor to play her Jewish suitor. It turns out that he is not Jewish either and she panics and part of the panic is the funniest part of the show. Auditions for this fun-filled show will be on Sept. 8 and Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Herricks Community Theater, with callbacks on Sept. 10. Show dates are on: Oct. 23, 24, 25 and on Oct. 30, 31 and Nov. 1. The cast includes a mother, father, daughter, and brother. hired boyfriend and real boy friend. POLICE REPORT: MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM
ON AUGUST 24, two exterior light fixtures valued at $300 each were stolen at 364 Stewart Avenue... Between August 28 and 30, $8 in currency and personal papers were taken from an unlocked car parked at Clinch Avenue... ON AUGUST 29, Detective Barone arrested a 32-year-old Staten Island woman for criminal contempt after she violated an order of protection by allegedly contacting her mother at her place of business in Garden City... ON AUGUST 28, the police departments in Garden City and Hempstead did a DWI checkpoint on the border of the villages, and made arrests. A 23-year-old Valley Stream male was arrested for alleged DWI (.13%) and equipment violations. There was also an alleged speeder, 2 motorists driving without insurance, and 3 unlicensed operators... ON AUGUST 14, police arrested two employees, 20-year-old Hempstead females, for the alleged theft of $690 in merchandise through the use of coupons for exchanges/purchases at the CVS, Franklin Avenue. The charges were for petit larceny and for falsifying records. In addition, one of the ladies, allegedly stole items worth and additional $264-so she was also charged with another count of petit larceny... ON AUGUST 27, PO Roumeliotis and Detective Madden arrested a 25-year-old Brooklyn female for the alleged harassment of a family member, a 96-year-old woman, a Garden City resident. She allegedly punched the victim near her home... ON AUGUST 29, 10:48 p.m., unknown persons threw a beer bottle though a $500 window at Wyatt Road... ON AUGUST 30, PO Wehr arrested a 38-year-old GC male for alleged DWI (11%), alleged speeding on Franklin Avenue, the alleged failure to signal a turn, and the alleged failure to maintain a lane at Ninth Street... ON AUGUST 30, Detective Madden arrested a 55-year-old GC male for the alleged assault of his wife at a GC residence. He allegedly slapped her and then dragged her across the floor causing injury to her hip... On August 30, two phones were found missing at T Mobile, Old Country Road: a My Touch 3 G valued at $500 and a Blackberry Curve valued at $500... ON AUGUST 27, a 33-year-old GC Park female stated that a pocketbook containing credit cards, a cell phone, and personal papers had been taken out of a dressing room at Pay/half...

A RESIDENT REQUESTED assistance with shutting off an in-ground water sprinkler system at a Jefferson Street house on August 30...
