AAUW To Hold Annual Tea
Members of the community are invited to the American Association of University Women's annual tea to meet three AAUW scholarship recipients. The tea will be held Sunday, September 13 th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Garden City Community Church located on Stewart Avenue and Whitehall Blvd.
AAUW immerses its scholarly interest in many fields of interest. It endeavors to select students with creative and societal outlooks.
Shirley Carrie from Queens College, whose field of study is English language and literature, received an AAUW American Fellows Scholarship. Gowri Rao from Princeton University, whose field of study is business, received an AAUW Selected Professions Fellowship. Kesha Thomas from Columbia University, whose field of study is social work, received an AAUW Career Development Grant. All three of the recipients will present a brief talk about their scholarly pursuits.
AAUW members will be present to greet each other, and to meet guests. Persons interested in membership in the Garden City Branch of AAUW will find that this tea on September 13 th is a wonderful opportunity to familiarize oneself with its activities. A joyful time awaits all as they join in friendly conversation and partake of appetizing tid-bits.
