Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray (2nd right) presents official Town of Hempstead Certificates of Recognition to Stewart Elementary School students Steven Morales of Hempstead and Larissa Izze of Garden City for their participation in the Covanta 19th Annual Recycling Poster Contest. Supervisor Murray was proud to join in honoring grammar school students from several participating school districts for their outstanding creativity in illustrating the importance of recycling. The Town of Hempstead's recycling and S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) programs are testament to the town's ongoing commitment to protecting the environment. Facility Manager Ken Straitz was also on hand for the ceremony held at Chateau Briand in Carle Place.
