On Monday, August 10, 2009 Cherry Valley Club in Garden City, New York is sponsoring a unique and different memorial golf tournament.

The tournament is in the memory of Keith R. Cerrato who passed away in a tragic accident at the age of 24 about 2 1/2 years ago. Keith was a caddie at Cherry Valley for many years and also worked in the bag room and on the range. According to Ed Kelly, Cherry Valley's head pro, "Whenever I needed some help or extra work performed Keith was always willing to volunteer. If it meant he missed a loop or an opportunity to make additional money he didn't care. He was always the first person to volunteer and raise his hand, whether it was early in the morning or after a tireless day. he always possessed an infectious smile and exhibited the demeanor of an individual way beyond his years."

According to Bill Goldschein, Tournament Chairperson: "To honor Keith's memory and his tireless and indefatigable work ethic at Cherry Valley, we are starting a tournament that will only be open to caddies at the Metropolitan Clubs. Much too often we do not appreciate their efforts and our clubs would not run as well or be as enjoyable for our members if it weren't for these folks." The tournament will be held at Cherry Valley club on Monday, August 10 th 2009. All net proceeds from the tournament will be equally split amongst the following two funds for underprivileged students:

Mr. Kelly further indicated that there were a few ways that others could join Cherry Valley in helping to keep Keith's spirit alive. First, clubs in the Metropolitan NY area are being given the opportunity to sponsor caddies to play in the tournament. The sponsorship fees are very reasonable and if a club, its pro or members are interested in sponsoring a caddie they should contact Ed Kelly at 741-1980 or via email at EKelly@CherryValleyClub.com . Additionally, there will also be a 50/50 raffle at $10 per chance.
