SUMMER CONCERTS ANNOUNCED

The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce its upcoming Gazebo Concert Series. Our concerts are held at the Gazebo on the corner of Hilton and Stewart Avenues and begin at 7:15 pm. Our concerts will be:

So bring a chair, come join us and enjoy!

in the event of bad weather, the concert will be held indoors at st. paul's cluett hall.

IN OUR PARKS!

Our Summer Park programs are in full swing! Here is a sampling of activities happening in some of our parks - Trip to Adventureland for Edgemere and Tullamore - July 24

Round Robin Tennis at 11 a.m. for ages 5-10 at Tullamore - July 27

Softball Teams at Grove, Edgemere, Hemlock, Haven - daily

Carnival Day at Tullamore at noon on July 28

Home Run Derby at 2pm at Tullamore on July 30

Jay Gallagher Day at Edgemere

Arts and Crafts at every park

Visit your neighborhood parks for further events and daily activities. This program continues until Friday, August 14th.

SPLISH SPLASH TRIP ANNOUNCED

The Garden City Recreation Department is again sponsoring a trip to Splish Splash Water Park, located in Riverhead, for all students in grades 6-10 who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. This trip will take place on Friday, July 31.

Buses will depart from the parking lot at St. Paul's School at 9 a.m. and will return there at approximately 5 p.m.

Supervision for this trip will be provided by the Recreation Staff. The children will enjoy several hours of river rapids, slides, and tube rides at this fantastic water park.

The cost of this trip will be $28 per person, which will include unlimited rides at Splish Splash and transportation. Payment must be made in cash only. Please fill out the bottom and return to the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue by Tuesday, July 29. For further info, call 465-4075.

PARK TRIPS TO ADVENTURELAND

The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct trips to Adventureland Amusement Park in Farmingdale from each of our neighborhood parks. This trip is open to children who reside in the Inc. Village of Garden City. The cost of each trip will be $19.00.

The trips leave from our neighborhood Parks. Each trip will leave from the assigned Parks at 11 a.m. and will arrive at Adventureland around noon. The children will enjoy three hours of unlimited rides and will depart Adventureland at 3 p.m. The bus will return to the Parks around 4 p.m.

The trips dates are as follows:

July 24Tullamore and Nassau Haven

August 4Grove Park

August 7Hemlock Park

August 11Edgemere Park

Transportation will be provided by the Recreation Department's Bus and the trip will be supervised by the Park staff.

Registrations are now being accepted at the Parks listed above. Space is limited and payment must accompany the registration. CASH ONLY. No refunds will be given.

Mad science camp

We have opened another session of Mad Science - Secret Dectective. This session will take place July 27 through July 30 in the afternoons from 1 to 4 pm. The cost of this camp will be $169. For further information or to register, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue.

SPRING/SUMMER

ADULT TENNIS BEGINS

The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct evening tennis lessons for adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City at the Community Park Tennis Facility. The lessons will run for one hour each week in three sessions during the spring/summer months. The registrant has a choice of a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday class and a choice of time. There will be a maximum of four players per court. The dates and fees will be as follows:

Session 1 - 6 weeks beginning May 4 Cost $120

Session 2 - 4 weeks beginning July 6 Cost $80

Session 3 - 4 weeks beginning August 3 Cost $80

The Garden City Recreation Department will open the Field House on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 10 p.m. for open basketball time. This program is open to ages 18 and older who are residents of the Village of Garden City. Games are strictly "pick up". This program will continue until August 19 th.
