Fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Eileen Hoey joins second graders Stephen Pappacina, Matthew Conelli and Rebecca Curran after the PowerPoint presentation. After three months of hard work, second graders in Miss McCavera's class completed their research on various penguins around the world. The students were fortunate to have the help and guidance of their fifth grade school buddies in Mrs. Hoey's class. The students met numerous times when their schedules allowed to research a specific penguin. They researched many scientific sites to learn the habitats, food and interesting habits of their penguin. They drew a picture of their penguin. They compiled this information into a class book. Their fifth grade buddies then helped them put this information into a PowerPoint Presentation with graphics, charts, additional websites and in some cases, music. Parents of second graders were invited to view the presentations. Each team of a second and fifth grader presented their work to the audience. Miss McCavera and her students are so grateful to Mrs. Hoey and her class. It was a wonderful cooperative learning experience.
