Hemlock School Poster Contest Winners

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray (2nd left) presents an official Town of Hempstead Certificate of Recognition to Hemlock School student James Durand of Garden City for his participation in Covanta Hempstead Company's 19th Annual Recycling Poster Contest. Supervisor Murray was proud to join in honoring grammar school students from several participating school districts for their outstanding creativity in illustrating the importance of recycling. The Town of Hempstead's recycling and S.T.O.P. (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) programs are testament to the town's ongoing commitment to protecting the environment. Facility Manager Ken Straitz (left) was also on hand for the ceremony held at Chateau Briand in Carle Place.
