Eagle Recipients Honored
Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray (center), Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby (4th right) and Town Clerk Mark Bonilla (4th left) present official Town of Hempstead Certificates of Recognition to Eagle Scouts Brendan J. Guerrin, Andrew B. Kuruc and Evan A. Browand of Garden City, Timothy J. M. Schuellein of Franklin Square and Michael Soudmand of Floral Park. The ceremony, held at the Norman J. Levy Park & Preserve in Merrick, was the 4th annual Town of Hempstead celebration honoring young men and woman who have achieved the highest honors in Girl Scouting and Boy Scouting, the Gold Award and the rank of Eagle Scout. Earning these awards is no small accomplishment; it entails years of hard work and dedication. Besides fulfilling requirements in a number of areas, both the Gold award recipients and Eagle Scouts must complete a service project that is beneficial to the community. Also present at the ceremony were Girl Scouts of Nassau County representatives President Diane McFarland and board member Melissa Connolly, and, from the Theodore Roosevelt Council BSA Iroquois and Pequott District, Executive Kathy Brown.
