Marvin J. Guandique Garden City Police Commissioner Ernest Cipullo has announced the arrest of a 28 year old Hempstead man for endangering the welfare of a minor (a female, age 9) and public lewdness.

Beginning on June 8th the subject allegedly borrowed a relative's car and traveled into Garden City in search of female joggers and walkers. He would then call the unsuspecting victims over to his car under the pretense of asking for directions. At that time he would then expose himself while performing a lewd act. On each occasion the victims would remember a small piece of information about the subject and vehicle which would be passed along to detectives. Intensive patrols during the morning hours where conducted.

On Thursday July 16 at about 10:15 am a Garden City resident was out walking when a small green auto approached and the driver motioned her over to the car. Being a previous victim of a public lewdness, the victim refused and noted important information about the car and driver. She immediately called police.

Shortly afterwards, the subject then allegedly approached a 9 year old girl who was walking her dog. According to police, he exposed himself while performing a lewd act. The girl ran directly home and notified her parents who called police. Although extremely upset, the 9-year-old victim was also able to provide valuable information about the car and a description of the driver.

Garden City Detectives were able to piece together all the information from each of the cases and were able to develop information on a vehicle and subject. An all-day search of the area by detectives resulted in finding the vehicle parked on a street in Hempstead. Surveillance was initiated and at about 6PM a subject matching the description was observed entering the vehicle. He was stopped and further investigation resulted in his arrest.

The subject is identified as Marvin J. Guandique, age 28, of Hempstead. According to police, the vehicles he used were: a green 1995 Nissan Sentra 200sx 4dr Color Green and a grey 1990 Toyota Camry.

The subject was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of public lewdness for July 16 and two counts of public lewdness for June 8. He was transported to Nassau County Police detention pending arraignment in First District Court.
