Leroy B. Russell

February 27, 1922 -

July 11, 2009

Leroy "Roy" B. Russell of Sarasota, Fl., Formerly of Garden City, New York. He moved to Sarasota in 2005.

He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, and retired as Insurance Executive.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942. His service took him to Italy in the 776th Bomb Squad and 646th Group.

He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor, just one month short of their 50th wedding anniversary in May 2003.

Roy is survived by his sister, Jeanne Mobbs, and nieces and nephews, including nieces and nephews on his wife's side.

A Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Garden City on Saturday, July 18th at 9:30 a.m . with burial following at Holy Rood Cemetery on 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, Nassau County, New York.

A Memorial Service will be held later in Sarasota. Time and Place to be announced.
