Resident Presents At Meeting
Donna O'Brien of Garden City was selected to give a poster presentation at the Academy Health Annual Research meeting which was held in Chicago on June 29 th. Her topic was "The Use of Performance Based Dashboards to Address Cancer Healthcare Disparities in the National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Centers Program."
Ms. O'Brien is president of Community Healthcare Strategies, a national healthcare consulting organization offering expertise in healthcare strategy, clinical and research program development, healthcare operations and governance. Since 2005, she has served as a consultant for the National Cancer Institute for the development of a new program to expand state-of-the-art cancer care and research to more locations across the United states. She works on national and regional health policy projects including healthcare redesign efforts in New Orleans.
Ms. O'Brien currently serves on the Board of Regents of Seton Hall University on its Finance and Academic Affairs Committees and as vice chair of the Audit Committee. She is on the board of directors of the Flushing Savings Bank and serves on its Audit and Compensation Committees. From 2005 to 2006 she served on the Governor of New York State's Commission on Healthcare Facilities for the twenty first Century. She was a founding board member of the Christus Health System; a 40 hospital international health system based in Dallas, TX, and she has served on the board of directors of several national and local healthcare organizations.
Her prior experience has included serving as executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, as associate director of the Alliance for Catholic Health and Human Services in New York and as assistant administrator for hospital administration at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Ms. O'Brien is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and has her master's degree in health administration from St. Louis University. She is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
