GCHS Class of 2009
It was a picture perfect day on June 27th when the Class of 2009 graduated from Garden City High School. The outdoor ceremony took place on Warren King Field under turquoise blue skies, tufted clouds, and a warm June sun. With family and friends looking on with pride and jubilation, the students - girls in white dresses and carrying red roses, and the boys in white tuxedos with red carnation boutonnieres - walked in a processional across the athletic field along paths lined with gently waving American flags, and assembled for the last time as members of the Class of 2009. The ceremony, led by Principal Nanine Cuttitta, filled the morning event with an atmosphere of tradition, dignity and grace as student and guest speakers, including Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Robert Feirsen, and former Garden City Mayor, Mr. Peter Bee, extended words of wisdom and their congratulations to the students and their parents. As student readers announced their names, Board of Education members awarded a diploma to each graduate in turn with a heartfelt handshake. After Principal Cuttitta conferred their diplomas, the Senior Chorale, directed by Mr. Robert Ludwig, sang Garden City High School's Alma Mater. The newly graduated processed to much applause and cheering and later joined family and friends for an informal reception held in the high school cafeteria.
As the Class of 2009 bids farewell to Garden City High School and disperses to their colleges and universities in the fall, the Board of Education, school administrators, teachers and staff congratulate them on their outstanding achievements and extend best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors!
