The Garden City Retired Men's Club is a non-profit membership organization formed in April 1961 for the purpose of providing educational and recreational activities for the retired male senior citizens of the Garden City Community. The organization is non-sectarian and non-political.

All retired men 55 years or older residing in the Incorporated Village of Garden City, in the state of New York are eligible for membership upon paying a five (5) dollar initiation fee. If you are eligible and interested in joining us, please come by. Every Monday is Open House. Or call Joe Leto at 248-9022.

The Club House facility is located at No. 6 Golf Club Lane (directly behind Lord & Taylor parking lot). The building is open every day of the week, except Friday, and offers two regulation size pool tables, television, cards/table board games as well as outdoor bocce, horseshoes and shuffleboard. Our Program Committee is planning a very active speaker program. You are invited to join us!

In-House Party Coming Up

Our next In-House party is scheduled for Monday, July 13 th. Rudy Kaiser, with apron on, is cooking up something special just for you. Come early, play a few hands of cards, shoot some pool or relax in th massage room. Drink stand opens at 12:30 p.m.; food served at 1 p.m., naptime 4 p.m. What better way to spend a day ... the cost is $7.00 plus $2.00 for lucky bucks.

Is Coming

The BIG day is practically here. We've booked the caterer. We've ordered the wine and we'll be ready and waiting to serve you. Sunday July 19 th is the date. The price is $30.00 per person. If you would like a group table of 6, 8 or 10 let us know. We'll set it up for you. To avoid duplication, you must send us the names of each person sitting at your table.

Health And Fitness

Felicia is ready to pick up from where she left off. Her exercise routine will resume Monday July 13 th. Until further notice Felicia will conduct a 1:00 AM class each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Speaker Program

George Salem has done it again. We are fortunate indeed to have Dr. Lawrence Jindra, chief of Ophthalmology, Winthrop Hospital address our group. Dr. Jindra will instruct and advise us of the proper care of the eyes, one of our most precious organs. Dr. Jindra is on a limited and concise schedule. You will note his starting time will be 12:00 noon instead of our usual 1:00 p.m. start time . We ask members to arrive no later than 11:45 A.M.

There Is Someone Who May Need Your Help

Be a good Scout. It may be time to help some of our fellow retirees step out of the house and smell the roses. If you are, or know of someone who is, a shut-in and cannot get to the club for lack of transportation let us know. Also, if you are willing to transport a shut-in let us know. We will do our best to arrange a member-member pick-up and take-home service. Call Joe Leto at 248-9022.
