GCAA Travel Baseball Tryout Information
      *Pre-Registration Is Required* The GCAA will be holding travel baseball tryouts for any child between 8 and 12. Remember: To determine which team your child is eligible to play on, use the little league birth date for 2010 (which is your child's age as of April 30, 2010.

GCAA Summer Baseball Registration
      The deadline for registering for the GCAA Summer Baseball Season is fast approaching! The GCAA's Summer Baseball Season includes both Garden City teams and teams from neighboring towns. The season will run for five weeks starting July 13th, with two games per week per team on Monday through Thursday evenings.

GCAA Basketball Is Now Accepting Applications For The 2009-2010 Season
      GCAA, an entity that has been running sports in Garden City for over 50 years, is now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 basketball season. The application can be downloaded from the GCAA website, www.gc-aa.com. Please sign up early as the number of registrants will determine the amount of court time GCAA receives.

Sand Trap Suicide At Cherry Valley Club
      On June 16th, the Cherry Valley 18-holers held their annual "Sand Trap Suicide" tournament. This popular event is a one best ball net of the foursome. In this fun format a player who lands in the sand on any given hole is disqualified from that hole. If all four players land in the sand on any given hole that foursome is disqualified from the tournament!

Garden City Basketball - Hoops Info! Applications are on our website
      www.gardencitybasketball.org or you may signup online. In response to the numerous emails/phone calls we have received regarding the time our program will operate next season; the gcaa has inappropriately "announced" their winter schedule as 8am to 4pm. The gcaa does NOT have a village permit for this timeframe.

GCAA Central League Mets Win Championship
      The GCAA Central League Mets won the Central League Championship with a 4-0 victory over an excellent White Sox team. The Mets made no errors and didn't walk anyone. The Mets had a fun season with contributions from all team members all year long. The team always respected each other, the other team, and the umpires. The players always supported each other in victory and defeat.

Centennial Girls Retain Roughriders Independence Cup
      On Saturday June 27th The Garden City Centennial SC Wildcats took to the fields at the Bethpage Polo grounds for the 3rd Annual Long Island Roughriders Independence Cup. Having won the Cup last year the Team was very interested in defending their status as Independence Cup Champions.

Spartans Play In Championship Game
      On June 22, 2009, St. Joes Spartans found itself playing in the CYO championship game at Merrick Park against first place and undefeated St. Patrick. The Spartans, went 8-2 on the season, were one hit away from winning the championship game but came up short with a score of 3-2.
