Award Of Appreciation
Muriel Urban and Sandy Oliva.
An Award of Merit and Appreciation has been given by the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence to Muriel Urban for her many years of service as a Director on its Board. The Award was presented by Sandy Oliva, Executive Director of the organization and by Garden City Presidents Stacey Novick and Toni Wiener. Muriel, in addition to being a Director, has served on its Publicity Committee, Development Committee and their Education Committee.
The Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCCADV) works to help women, children, (and Men also) who have been the victims of Domestic Violence. They provide Legal Advice, a Safe House, a program on Date Rape for school students, a Hands Are Not For Hitting program in Elementary Schools, counsel rape victims in hospitals and support those seeking Orders of Protection in Family Court.
Their most recent fund raiser, their Annual Spring Gala, was held to a sell-out crowd on June 9th at the Carlton, Eisenhower Park. Funds raised go to help their many services to those who need them. Family violence is on the rise and now, more than ever, it is imperative to continue to communicate with and educate the public to break the cycle of violence and let victims know, "Love Shouldn't Hurt." Recent headlines have been about well known people but there are many who never make the headlines but are served on a daily basis by the NCCADV.
Muriel joins with the members of the Board in offering an opportunity to volunteer your services by contacting them at 250 Fulton Avenue, Hempstead, N.Y. 11550 - Attention of Sandy Oliva or Sharon Hoahing.
