Annual Resurrection Plant Sale Raises $6800

Spring planting is now giving way to ripening vegetables, maturing herbs and blooming flowers. The third annual Plant Sale held recently at Resurrection Lutheran Church succeeded beyond expectations. The Women's Ministries' fundraiser prevailed despite a weak economy and dubious weather.
Over 20 dedicated volunteers with the support of Resurrection's members and the general public raised $5200 from the sale of hundreds of annuals, perennials, vegetables, and herbs. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans generously donated $1600, a $100 increase over last year's matching gift. Thanks to the efforts of all, a total donation of $6800 was given to the Walter Reed Society at Walter Reed Hospital. The contribution goes to help wounded soldiers and their families. Perhaps a loved one was financially enabled to visit his recovering soldier in hospital or a wounded veteran was able to cover a missed mortgage payment. This is the true "harvest" of Resurrection's Plant Sale.
Resurrection is a multi-site Christian community of faith. All are invited to worship at 5:30 PM on Saturdays and at 8:30 and 11 AM Sunday mornings, with Christian Education at 9:45 AM at the 420 Stewart Avenue location in Garden City. For more information, please visit www.resgc.org.
