Summer Soccer & Apprentice Program
Artisan Social F.C., Garden City's new soccer club, will be continuing its training through the summer months. In order to make soccer fit the schedules of families in the community, the club is making sessions available Mondays through Thursdays both in the morning from 8:30-10:30AM and in the afternoon from 4-6PM. Sessions will be held at St. Paul's.
Artisan Social is unique in its approach to soccer, and it offers children a very different experience to playing the game. In the summer the club will continue its focus on skill development and playing lots of 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 games using the club's non-traditional small balls, fields and goals. The children are always involved and getting the ball, and it is a lot of fun to play.
In addition, Artisan Social is launching an apprentice program for soccer players entering the 5th grade or older. Apprentices will assist the club's coaches organize sessions and train the younger players in skills and tactics. They will also have a lot of opportunity to play, either filling in as a player in games when needed or, when not needed, playing in their own pickups on additional fields that will be made available to them.
Artisan Social believes that the mentoring of young players is not only vitally important to their development, but it is a great opportunity for the older players to learn the game from a different perspective, learn responsibility and leadership, and also feel the value of being looked up to by those younger. The club anticipates much success with this program.
