On June 1st, Class of 2009 Valedictorian Sarah D'Antonio kicked off Garden City High School's Senior Awards Ceremony with her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Opening remarks by Principal Nanine Cuttitta and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Feirsen welcomed attending parents, student honorees and award sponsors to the annual event where, this year, 141 awards were bestowed to the graduating class members. The ceremony included 40 community awards, many which are included here, 15 special memorial awards, multiple department awards, and educators' and PTA/SEPTA awards.
"Senior Awards Night is one of the highlights of the year," commented Principal Cuttitta. "It is our pleasure to honor so many of our talented, dedicated students."
The District would like to extend its deepest gratitude to this year's award sponsors for rewarding the dedication, hard work, and achievements of our graduating seniors, as well as to the high school administration for organizing and coordinating the 2009 Senior Awards Ceremony.
Jacquelyn Studdert, pictured here with assistant principal Dave Perrotta, was presented with the Senator Kemp Hannon Citizenship Award. Jacquelyn also was awarded the Prudential Spirit of Community Certificate of Achievement.

Marian Haberman presented Juliana Ortega with the Long Island Blood Services Scholarship.

Senior Laura Wysocki was the recipient of the Mineola/Garden City Rotary Scholarship presented by Mildred Linton (left) and Suzanne Saramak.
Senior Elisabeth Clarke received the Hola of Garden City award from presenter Janet Volpe.
The PTA/SEPTA Awards for Commitment, Inspiration, Perseverance, and Love of Learning was presented by HS PTA Director Marcia Kelly (far right) to Nicole Matteini, Patricia McCormick, Matthew Nesi, Jonathan Tan, Thomas Farley, Lauren Giambrone, Lauren Terracciano, Kelly Johnston, David Kadamus, Allison Lloret, James McCartin, Jeremy Snailer, Allyson Maclay and Sarah Masterson.

Senior Thomas Buonincontri (left) was presented with the Garden City Chamber of Commerce Foundation award by Vice President Chris Murray. Thomas also was the recipient of the Sons of Italy "La Bella Ligua" Award.
County Legislator Vincent Muscarella presented Danielle Mongelli with the 2009 Nassau County Legislature Student Citizenship Award.
Sarah Leone (right) was awarded the Garden City Hotel Scholarship Award by representative Morgan Cohen. Sarah also received the Sons of Italy - Cellini Lodge Award.
Scott McAuley, President of the Garden City Teachers Association, presented Allison Rose (center) and Victoria Pietzak with the Garden City Teachers Association/Jean Campbell Teaching Scholarship.
