THE 2ND BATTALION, 25th Marines Association will host its Annual Golf Outing at Eisenhower Park on Aug. 3 to raise funds for the support of local Marine Reservists and their families. Play occurs on the Red and White Courses with a start at 1 p.m. Check in begins at 10 a.m., followed by a barbeque lunch. Play will be followed by a buffet dinner at the Carltun. Proceeds will help the nonprofit organization provide comfort and support to family members of deployed Marines; care packages for those on the front lines and if need be, funds will be used to assist wounded Marines or provide for the survivors of any killed in the line of duty. POLICE REPORT: MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM
ON JUNE 22, at Field 9, someone broke a $300 front window to a Dodge Caliber parked there and took a purse containing $200, credit cards, and ID... BETWEEN JUNE 18 and 19, a $20 shutter was broken at a Maxwell Rd. residence... A THIEF NEEDING landscaping evidently took bushes and flowers from a Transverse Road house in the early morning hours of June 20... ALSO THAT DAY, detectives arrested a 30-year-old Brooklyn man for harassment after he allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face at County Seat Drive... A 45-year-old Mineola man was arrested on June 20 for the alleged crime of having stolen Breath Right strips on June 7... On June 12, a 21-year-old female allegedly stole 2 Ella Moss dresses at Lord and Taylor... BETWEEN JUNE 14 and 18, a $200 GPS was taken from a car parked at Garden Street... BETWEEN JUNE 13 and 16 , a $250 light post was knocked over at Chestnut Street... ON JUNE 16, someone damaged a Ford Suburban parked at Field 6 W at around 11:45 a.m. The car had $2,000 in damages... PO SOMMER and PO Wedra arrested an individual for the criminal possession of crack, marijuana, and pills after a property damage car accident occurred at Nassau Blvd./Stewart Avenue, on June 13. The motorist was also without a license, and was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation for having a suspended license, as well as for DWAI/ drugs and DWAI/ alcohol...

CONSTRUCTION DUST set off an alarm at the GC Hotel, Seventh Street on June 17... FD Assisted A Willow St. resident who was locked out on June 18... A SCORCHED POWER strip caused a burning odor at a Roosevelt Street house on June 19... WORKMEN CUTTING a pipe with a blow torch activated a carbon monoxide detector on June 19... A Discarded Cigarette caused a small fire in a plastic can at Hemlock Park on June 20... A FIRE WAS CONFINED after a boiler blowback occurred at the Cherry Valley Ave. apartments on June 21... FIREFIGHTERS ASSISTED at a house fire at GC Park on June 22. Two men were treated on site...
