GCYL 6th Grade Team after game
GCYL 6th Grade Team after game When we arrived at Farmingdale College to get ready to play, everyone on the team knew we were in for a battle. We knew who our opponent was, and we also knew we have never beaten them. As a matter of fact no team was able to beat them all year. It was going to take a complete effort from everyone if we were going to pull off the upset.

The "Hills" from Half Hollow Hills came into today's match up with an unbeaten record 8 - 0. The game started slow on both sides almost like a prize fight. Each team was taking their time feeling out the other. No one wanted to take a chance and make a mistake. It started out with both teams trading goals before the Hills went on a run and went up by 3 goals causing the GCYL lacrosse team to take a time out and make some adjustments. The adjustment was basically calming down the players. The adjustment worked and the defense did what they have been doing all year and that was shutting down the other team's offense. While the defense was doing their part the GCYL offense began to click and scored the next 3 goals including one with 20 seconds left in the half off a time out which gave us the opportunity to run a set play. The half ended with a tie score of 4 - 4. The half time speech to the GCYL team was to just go out in the second half and play our game and more importantly have fun. That's exactly what they did. In the second half the scoring went back and forth. We traded a couple of goals and then we were able to score back to back goals putting us up by 2. For the remainder of the game the scoring went back and forth. The Hills was never able to take the lead again and the GCYL team held on for the win. You can't have more fun than that. It was a great win and a great way to end the season. The boys should be very proud of the overall TEAM effort put forth this season.
