As our spring season draws to a close, it's time to start thinking about GCAA Summer Baseball! The GCAA Summer Wood Bat League will have four different age divisions: 8 year-olds (7 year-olds entering 3rd grade in fall 2009 are eligible to play in this division); 9/10 year-olds; 11/12 year-olds; and 13-15 year-olds.

Age is calculated as of April 30, 2009, in accordance with Little League rules. This means, for example, that if you were 12 years old on April 30, 2009 - even if you are 13 years old today - you would play in the 11/12 year-old division.

The GCAA's Summer Wood Bat League will include both Garden City teams and teams from neighboring towns. The season will run for five weeks starting July 13th, with two games per week per team on Monday through Thursday evenings. Team rosters are generally a little bit larger to accommodate players missing some games because of other summer activities such as camps or vacations.

As was done in our spring season, all teams in the 9/10 and 11/12 year-old divisions will be using wood bats, while metal bats will be permitted in the 8 year-old and 13-15 year- old divisions.

The Registration fee is $85 for 8-12 year olds and $125 for 13-15 year olds. Uniform jerseys and caps are supplied. Baseball pants must be purchased separately.
