As our spring season draws to a close, it's time to start thinking about GCAA Summer Baseball!The GCAA Summer Wood Bat League will have four different age divisions: 8 year-olds (7 year-olds entering 3rd grade in fall 2009 are eligible to play in this division); 9/10 year-olds; 11/12 year-olds; and 13-15 year-olds. More ... The girls started the season with four home games which featured quality wins over both Manhasset teams. The second half of the year the girls would clearly be tested with 4 straight away games against Cold Spring Harbor, Wantagh "B", West Islip, and Wantagh "A". More ... The GC Thunder program which starts at age 7 welcomed their newest additions. All 7 year old players got together this past Sunday along with all returning 8 year old players. They all received their new helmets and other equipment for the upcoming season. More ... The GCYL 3rd Grade boys lacrosse Hitmen finished their trek for the perfect season with a 6-4 win on Friday night at Manhasset. The whole season the boys showed their grit and determination in going on the road and winning 10 straight games and 0 losses. With a stingy defense and a potent "O" the Hitmen boys were not able to be touched. More ... When we arrived at Farmingdale College to get ready to play, everyone on the team knew we were in for a battle. We knew who our opponent was, and we also knew we have never beaten them. As a matter of fact no team was able to beat them all year. It was going to take a complete effort from everyone if we were going to pull off the upset. More ... GC Daredevils (U14) completed an extremely rewarding season this past weekend with a 3-0 win against East Meadow.Giving up just one loss the entire season, the Daredevils became a force in Division 1 this spring. More ... Saturday, June 13th brought an end to an incredible first year for the U10 girls Chargers. Head Coach Clarke, Assistant coaches Archer and Schroeder and trainer Steve Hagerty worked diligently with the girls and it paid off. The record for the season was 5-2-1 which for a first year division 2 team is an amazing feat!!! More ... With a win over the tough Garden City Warriors the U-8 GC Sting secured first place in the very competitive NJBL travel baseball league. The Sting finished the season with an impressive 7-1 record. More ... The Garden City Power was coming off a five game winning streak and ready to play the last game of the season against the Syosset Lightning in Syosset. The Power's mood was tense, but with determination to try to hold their first place standing. The game began with aggressiveness from both teams, although the Lightning played a more physical game. Six Trojan runners and their coaches left Garden City on Thursday morning for the 5 hour bus trip to North Syracuse for the 2009 State meet to run against the top competition across NY state. More ... The third grade lacrosse season ended on a positive note for the Maroon girls as they fought to a 5-3 win over Half Hollow Hills at the LAX Jamboree in Farmingdale this past weekend. The girls played great and enjoyed an end of year celebration with family and friends after the game. More ...
