College Notes
Northeastern University is pleased to recognize those students who distinguish themselves academically during the course of the school year. the following local students were recently named to the University's dean's list for the 2009 spring semester, which ended in May 2009:
• Garden City resident, Taylor L. Corrado, who is majoring in communication studies.
• Garden City resident, Ryan Cornacchia, who is majoring in management.
• Garden City resident, Alyssa M. O'Malley, who is majoring in mechanical engineering.
To achieve the dean's list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.25 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C during the course of their college career. Each student receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college dean.
The University of Scranton conferred 856 bachelor's and associate's degrees at its undergraduate commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Wachovia Arena.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.
Frank D'Amuro of Garden City, son of Pat and Laura D'Amuro, was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics at the 133rd Commencement of Boston College on May 18. He is a graduate of Garden City High School. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu (the Jesuit Honor Society), Omicron Delta Epsilon (the International Honor Society in Economics), and the Golden Key International Honor Society.

Nicole Vissichelli from Garden City has been named to the Dean's List at The State University of New York at Geneseo for the spring semester 2009. To be on the list, a student must have achieved a 3.4 grade point average while taking at least 12 credit hours
