Andy Fund Yard Sale Celebrates 6th Year
Gardening helpers don't get dirty
The place to be on Saturday, May 9th was the annual Andy Fund Yard Sale held in the gym at St. Paul's. Now in its 6th year, the one-day event drew hundreds of local bargain hungers and raised, once again, a staggering $24,000 for the Andy Foundation.
Thanks to the incredible efforts of a caring community, the yard sale was a tremendous success both financially and spiritually. The grassroots fundraising effort was the brainchild of the Andy Foundation Junior Committee six years ago. The youngsters decided a yard sale would be a fun and effective way to rally the community and at the same time raise money in memory of their young friend Andy Palmeri.
Many thanks to the teams of volunteers who helped make the event go off without a hitch. If you attended the event you undoubtedly watched volunteers, young and old pitching in at every level. Whether it was carrying boxes of dishes to shoppers' cars, sorting through toys and sporting equipment, or separating the bone china from the stoneware, it was truly a team effort and a team success.
Pretty as Pictures!
Special thanks go out to Jeremy Cotty, owner of Homecraft Contracting, and his team of workers who donated their time and muscle to pick up, transport and unload endless streams of donations the Friday before the sale. Thank you to Mary Zimmer and Culinary Heights for their delicious donation of sandwiches and cookies and to Garden City Pizza for their generous support.
The Andy Foundation is a 501 (c3), dedicated to achieving lasting improvements in the lives of children, less fortunate than others. The foundation accepts donations year round. To find out more about the organization, log onto their website at www.theandyfund.com
