The Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs, in cooperation with the Town of North Hempstead Department of Community Services, is coordinating a free Information and Assistance Fair on Monday, July 20, 2009 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Bar Beach, Shore Road, Port Washington. The Rain Date for this event will be Thursday, July 23, 2009. Representatives from many different agencies will be available to answer questions, provide information and assist with the completion of any necessary applications for benefits or entitlement programs. This fair is part of the series of ongoing outreach programs scheduled for 2009. They are designed to provide a single point of entry for older citizens and their caregivers to health and human services information in a friendly community location.

Attendees will learn about programs and services for Nassau County seniors, and additional resources available to veterans and those individuals who are physically challenged. Information about health promotion activities and health insurance and financial counseling will be available. Agency representatives will answer legal questions and provide information on Social Security, housing, Medicare, Medicaid, and consumer issues. Application assistance for Food Stamps, EPIC prescription drug coverage, and other entitlement programs will be provided. Information on volunteer service opportunities will also be available.

There is no charge for this fair. Free parking is available in the parking lot.
