(l-r) Scott Axler, VP USTA Long Island Region, Bill Mecca, D.A.Abrams USTA Eastern Section Director Bill Mecca, a village resident and certified tennis teaching professional whose venues include the Casino and the Garden City community courts, was presented with the United States Tennis Association/Eastern/LI Region prestigious Press Service Award at the recent Long Island USTA dinner. Mr. Mecca was honored for authoring numerous articles on teaching techniques, tennis pro education and general tennis knowledge. His articles have appeared in local, regional and national magazines and newspapers including the Garden City News. A well known advocate for tennis he has appeared on Channel 12 and Channel 55 News and he has been heard on a number of radio stations talking about the many positive health and psychological benefits of tennis.
