ON SATURDAY, June 20, Best In Show Pet Resort, 244 Herricks Rd., Mineola will host its first Annual "Pet Adoption Day" to celebrate its one year anniversary. The event is set to take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. North Shore Animal League America will be on site providing the animals for adoption. This family-fun celebration will also include music and on-air contests from KJOY 98.3, tons of giveaways, two grand prizes valued at over $350 each and tours of the facility. Together with Garden City Veterinary Care, Best In Show Pet Resort will provide a total of $150 in free services for each pet adopted at the event. POLICE REPORT: MISCHIEF AND MAYHEM

BETWEEN 12 P.M. and 7 a.m on June 11, someone took copper gutters from a building on the Cathedral grounds. Value was $950... A 22-YEAR-OLD Jamaica Queens female was arrested on June 11 for allegedly having taken 3 cell phones at a T-Mobile store at Old Country Road. They were valued at $1200 and 2 accomplices are being investigated... ALSO ON JUNE 11, Operation Night Watch conducted by GC police and the County Probation Department, allows police without a warrant to investigate the homes of probationers, as part of checks in the probation agreement. Police arrested a 21-year-old GC male for allegedly being in possession of a controlled substance... ON JUNE 12, 3:45 p.m., a 21-year-old Rockville Centre female was arrested for allegedly stealing $397 in dresses at Lord and Taylor... ON JUNE 13, 7:30 p.m., police arrested a 36-year-old Williston Park man for the alleged criminal possession of a controlled substance after a 2-car accident occurred at Nassau Blvd./Stewart Avenue. No one was injured... BETWEEN JUNE 14 and 15, there was a theft of property from 3 unlocked cars at Wyatt Rd. One car had wine missing, another was missing cash, and the third car was missing a pair of sunglasses...

FIRE RESPONSES:

FD RESPONDED to the scene of an injured finger at Seventh Street. A mother reported that her son had closed the door on his finger and after looking at it firemen suggested medical attention... AN OIL burner problem occurred at a Terrace Ave. residence on June 12 and although there was smoke-there was no fire... ON JUNE 16, even though a carbon monoxide alarm had activated at a Cherry Valley Avenue location, there was no carbon monoxide found...That's all this week.G. T.
