Belly Dancing: A Free Workshop Series

A free belly dance workshop is offered to those who have had breast cancer, on Monday, July 27, from 7 to 8 pm. The workshop, a program the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program, is held at Adelphi University's Alumni House in Garden City.

Discover this captivating and beautiful art form from a professional belly dancer. Fitness professionals note that it can serve as a refreshing alternative to routine exercises. Learn popular belly dance movements, including hip circles, figure 8's, crescent moons, hip twists, undulations, shimmies and more. Get ready for a magic carpet ride that will enhance your confidence, boost your sensuality and add fun to your workout in 1001 ways!

No dance experience necessary; just wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring water.

The workshop is conducted by Aviva Khadra, a performer, teacher, choreographer and director of the Harem Belly Dancing Studio in Baldwin. She has studied extensively with world-renowned Middle Eastern dancers and performed at Lincoln Center, Epcot Center and at nightclubs and restaurants in the tri-state area.

The workshops, open only to those who have had breast cancer, will be held at Alumni House, 154 Cambridge Avenue, Adelphi University in Garden City. Pre-registration is required. Call 516-877-4325.
