Stratford School Technology State Fair
Ready to share information with his mom, this second grader advanced his PowerPoint state slides in Stratford's Computer Lab during the technology fair.
A fine "state" of affairs recently took place at the Stratford School when Mrs. Victoria Tomasheski's second grade class completed a comprehensive research project and shared their results with parents, teachers, and district administrators.
Each child in the class selected a state in the U.S. which was of interest to them and gathered information by reading books and visiting designated websites. The students' research work went on for several weeks and touched on 21 different states. The class then met with their fifth grade buddies in Mrs. Dukeman's class to create PowerPoint presentations about their state. The PowerPoint presentations were on display for parents and guests to view during "Tomasheski's Technology State Fair," which took place in Stratford's Computer Lab. Each guest was provided with a "Boarding Pass" booklet, complete with a map of the United States, to track their interactive journey across the country as they traveled from computer-to-computer to view the students' presentations.
This second grader shared his PowerPoint presentation about his chosen state - Wisconsin - with his brother and mom.
"The second graders' Technology State Fair was a huge success!" commented teacher Mrs. Tomasheski. One attending parent said, "My daughter was so excited for today! The project was not only informative, but also fun!" The students' PowerPoint presentations can be seen on Mrs. Tomasheski's class webpage: http://stratford.gardencity.k12.ny.us/classrooms/second_grade/mrstomasheski/
