Garden City Middle School has been officially recognized by the New York State Education Department as having an Effective Special Education Practice. The principal of Garden City Middle School, Dr. Peter Osroff, shared the exciting news with the faculty and staff by noting that, "In this one school year, Garden City Middle School received the National Blue Ribbon Award of Excellence for multiple years of outstanding academic achievement, and now has received New York State recognition for effective practice in special education. This combination of State and Federal recognition shows that our school effectively focuses on meeting the needs of ALL of our children and that we never leave a child behind! Our co-teaching program now serves as an official model for the region. We now can expect teams of educators from across our region to come to our school to learn how we are so successful meeting the needs of all of our students. Year after year, our school consistently scores among the top, if not the top, on State exams here on Long Island."

Dr. Osroff congratulated the faculty and staff for a job very well done. He wrote, "As a faculty we all have much to proud of..for each of you made these accomplishments possible. It is the work you do, day-in and day-out, that enable our students to reach these levels of academic and social-emotional success! You truly make a real difference in the lives of our students!"
