"The Good Life" At Friends' Concert

2009-06-12 / Community

Despite the fabulous weather outside, patrons of the Garden City Public Library chose to attend a free Tony Bennett concert sponsored by The Friends of the Library on May 30. Every seat was filled to watch a talented cast from Plaza Theatrical Productions perform top-hit songs recorded by Bennett. The tribute captured over four decades of music including The Good Life, Make Someone Happy, and I Left My Heart In San Francisco. Additional patrons enjoyed the concert from the Library Cafe due to limited seating.

One of Tony Bennett's hit songs was How Do You Keep The Music Playing? If you and your family have been enjoying the many programs sponsored by The Friends of the Garden City Public Library their tax-deductible Annual Appeal is ongoing. Donation envelopes are located at the Library's Circulation Desk.

Save the date for the Friends' season final program " A Cabaret Concert" with pianist Charles Castorina and vocalist Betty Rose on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 8 p.m. at the Garden City Public Library. You are invited to attend the Friends' Annual Meeting with refreshments which will be followed by the concert. Seating and parking is limited and on a first-come first-served basis. No tickets are required.
