The U10 Garden City Pythons The U10 Garden City Pythons just completed a four game sweep in the Port Washington Memorial Day Weekend Tournament to take home the title. The boys played outstanding throughout the weekend in beating teams from Franklin Square, Hicksville and Port Washington twice.

The pitching throughout the tournament was sensational. Connor Molloy and Joey Pizzingrillo manned the most innings with Michael Goulard slamming the door and earning the save in each of the four wins. Brandon Teixeira pitched them to a much needed win in game three to put them in the championship game. The staff finished with thirty-five strikeouts and allowed just eight walks and eight earned runs for the tournament.

The pitching staff was expertly handled by Michael DeSimone, who did the bulk of the work behind the plate and contributed some big hits as well.

On offense the team showcased its trademark depth which combines speed, power and finesse. Timothy Dehler and Peter Sceusa jump-started the offense using their speed on the basepaths for the big hitters that follow.

Marc Prevete contributed seven hits in the series including a triple and home run and several clutch hits. Joey Pizzingrillo, Tyler Flynn and Peter Sceusa banged out six hits apiece. Michael Goulard had a big two RBI hit in the final game. Connor Molloy, Michael Nygaard, Michael DeSimone and Kiernan Gunn were rock steady throughout the series. Mark Luglio harassed the opposition with three bunt singles.

Defensively, the Pythons were just as impressive. Kiernan Gunn came up with some outstanding defensive plays at shortstop. John Mackey, Michael Nygaard and Timothy Dehler also flashed the leather in the infield and outfield. The team turned three double plays in the four games.

The highlight of the tournament, however, was Matt Quinn's appearance at the championship game to celebrate with his teammates. The team handed Matt the game ball and the team championship trophy.

All in all, it was a great weekend for the team. The Pythons are looking forward to continued success in the summer.
