Stratford School Collaborative Research Project

2009-06-05 / School

After three months of hard work, Stratford School second graders in Miss Virginia McCavera's class recently completed their research on various penguin species around the world. The students were fortunate to have the help and guidance of their fifth grade school buddies in Mrs. Eileen Hoey's class. The students met numerous times and researched many scientific web sites to learn the habitats, food, and interesting facts about penguins. They each drew pictures of their penguin and compiled all of the information into a class book. With the assistance of the fifth graders, PowerPoint presentations were created incorporating graphics, charts, web site information and music. In the culminating activity pictured here, second grade parents were then invited to view the presentations.
