Last week marked the highlight of the Garden City Homestead School's Annual First Grade "Spring Sing" pageant, which was a big hit with children and adults alike. Attendance was so popular that the seven-year-old students performed their show on two consecutive days.

Following the theme, "Sing for the Red, White and Blue", more than 120 of the young Primary School stars - under the direction of Music Director Mrs. LaurKatie Riker and Principal Dr. Suzanne Viscovich - would have made noted American Idol talent judge Simon Cowell proud, as they recited patriotic poems and sang seven soul-stirring songs honoring their country.

Alexa Gerasimovich and Frankie McLaughlin happily recite, "Song of our Flag".

"All American Cutie" Maggie Hayes ponders her next line of "God Bless Our Native Land". Twins Joseph, left, and Michael Bereswill synchronize their moves in tune with "Yankee Doodle's Pony". Diana Muscarella sings stoically of "America". Brian Wood memorized his George M. Cohan choreography perfectly. Tess Castellano belts out, "You're a Grand Old Flag".
