St. Anne's Fourth Graders Raise Funds

2009-06-05 / School

Saint Anne's of Garden City's fourth grade faith formation class worked tirelessly this year to raise money for the Memorial Sloan-Kettering's Glenn D. Kesselhaut Children's Joy Fund. The "Kids Care" class of eight led by Tracy Murtagh and Susan Pascale, raised over $600 to be donated to the fund.

The group felt a personal connection to Memorial Sloan-Kettering after family and friends have sought care there over the years. Their decision to direct their funds towards pediatric assistance was inspired by their hopes of giving gifts to the children at Sloan-Kettering.

Throughout the year this young group brainstormed ideas and planned a blow out bake sale event. The class leveraged each and everyone's personal strengths throughout their preparation and event. The team went to work assembling 75 hair bands that sold out immediately during their event.
The residents and visitors of Garden City were extremely generous in their support of Saint Anne's class. A big thanks to the Saint Anne's Faith Formation teachers, Mrs. Murtagh and Mrs. Pascale, who nurture their love and enthusiasm to give to others. Eric, Jay, Maggie, Mairead, Micaela, Patrick, Ryan and Sarah continue to pray for a cure and hope to continue their fundraising efforts next year.
