Troop 55 Eagle Scout Honored

2009-06-05 / Community

Zachary LaRose is congratulated by Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi for reaching the rank of Eagle in Troop 55.

Zachary's Eagle project benefited the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, New York Division and Anna's House at Belmont in Elmont.

Over 650 packages of various school supplies were collected by Zachary for the Backstretch workers children at Belmont, along with money donations to buy scientific calculators. Zach also completed a fall work day at Belmont supervising twenty-two youth volunteers to clean up the Chaplaincy offices and nearby Anna House preschool. In addition that day planting, gardening and painting chores beautified the preschool and office grounds. The backstretch workers needed coats for the oncoming fall season so Zachary collected over sixty men's jackets, along with donations of children's clothes and food. Zach's efforts assisted the Chaplaincy and helped many children go to school with supplies they needed to succeed in learning. Zach is a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 55 sponsored by the Cathedral of the Incarnation church in Garden City. Many thanks to the Garden City community and Troop 55 for donating school supplies and labor for this worthy project.
