The Girls Varsity Softball Team

On Saturday, May 9th, Garden City sophomores: Kelly Allen, Michelle Finneran, Elizabeth Mahoney, Katie McCarthy, Kathryn Risi, Lauren Williams and Emily Winchurch supported the Mollie Biggane Melanoma Foundation by passing out hats, sunscreen and self check brochures for skin cancer to athletes annd their families.

Miss Jen Ponponio, coach of the Girls' JV Softball Team and GCHS Health Teacher organized an alumni game and her team sponsored a bake sale for hungry fans. The proceeds of the sale were donated to Mollie's Fund. Mollie and Miss Ponponio were GCHS '98 classmates and teammates on the Girls Varsity Softball Team. The Mollie Biggane Melanoma Foundation was created in her memory after her tragic death at twenty. For more information, visit www.molliesfund.org
