St. Joseph School Science Fair
The judges of the 2009 Science Fair
Earth Science and Biology were the name of the game for the annual Science Fair at St. Joseph's School. The judges traveled from station to station quizzing each and every participant on their experiment. The students demonstrated a wide range of topics and months of tedious work. Samantha Levano, seventh grader, was the overall winner. Her project "Do School Desks Affect Your Health?" is very timely now due to the recent health issues in area schools. Samantha collected data from both fourth grade classrooms and compared the absence and leaving sick records from a class where wiping down the desks with antibacterial wipes is part of the dismissal routine to the other class and found that the class with the cleaner desks had a lower sick rate. Many thanks to Ms. Florio, Science Fair Coordinator, for a terrific event and to the judges for their time and effort.
