Miss McCavera's second grade class.
Miss McCavera's second grade class. Miss McCavera's second grade class at Stratford School spent a special morning touring their home town. Village Historian Mr. John Ellis Kordes conducted the almost two-hour tour for the children as part of their study of communities. The children were joined on the bus by their parents and in many cases, their grandparents for this unique opportunity. Mrs. Janet Gonzalez, assistant principal at Stratford School also joined the group.

Mr. Kordes discussed important historical aspects of St. Paul's School, The Toll Lodge, the Waterworks, the Garden City Hotel and Stratford School to name just a few. The highlight of the morning was a tour inside The Cathedral of the Incarnation. Mr. Kordes gave the assembled visitors a unique visit to the Cathedral and access to areas not often available to the public. The children and adults have a new appreciation of the history and uniqueness of A.T. Stewart's Garden City and are grateful to Mr. Kordes for his time and knowledge. Everyone had a wonderful morning on the tour.
