Forum On Music Education

Violinist Jeffrey Wang will speak at a forum at the Garden City Community Church on Sunday, May 31 at 9:15 a.m., on "Education Through Music" in New York City's Inner-City Schools.

As part of the Sunday morning forum series at the Garden City Community Church, violinist Jeffrey Wang will introduce us to "Education Through Music," the non-profit music program for inner-city youth of which he is a part. Mr. Wang teaches violin and conducts at schools in East Harlem. On May 7, the program had its annual fund-raising gala at which master violinist Joshua Bell joined with students, reminiscent of the violin project made famous in the movie "Music of the Heart" with Meryl Streep. We hear that Mr. Wang might be bringing his violin with him on Sunday.

The Garden City Community Church is part of the United Church of Christ and is an Open & Affirming congregation. Worship services are on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with church school for children and a crib room for infants and toddlers during the later service.
