EPOA Invites All Residents To Hear Hempstead Supervisor

2009-05-29 / Community

The Eastern Property Owners' Association is inviting residents from all sections of Garden City to hear Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray address the concerns of property owners at its joint annual meeting on Monday, June 1, in the large meeting room of the Garden City Library. Supervisor Murray will begin speaking at 8 pm, allowing time for questions afterward.

The $3.7 billion Lighthouse project of developers Charles Wang and Scott Rechler, which is backed by Nassau County executive Thomas Suozzi, is currently under review by environmental consultants hired by the Town of Hempstead. Earlier this month these consultants called for revisions to the developer's environmental impact statement to address traffic, noise, garbage and tax revenue concerns that were not adequately explored.

Voting for all 10 members of the Garden City East Nominating Committee that proposes candidates for Village-wide offices, Village Board of Trustees and School Board Trustees will begin promptly at 7:30 pm. Only qualified voters who live in the East may vote in this election.

Also on the agenda are updates on current issues and reports from Trustees Nick Episcopia and Dennis Donnelly. Election of EPOA officers, directors and nominating committee members is scheduled too.

Every resident of the East has received the EPOA newsletter in the mail, with all candidate resumes and election information. This is also available for everyone on the EPOA Web site: www.gcepoa.org.
