Gabby Marcoux and Morgayne Rix show good teamwork What a game! The Garden City Power took on the Valley Stream Heat this past weekend at their home field ready to win. The Heat displayed great ball skills with excellent passing and teamwork. The Power's defense played strong and hard protecting their goal at all cost. The field was wet and the pace was fast, but the Power rose to the occasion. The Power's goalies were ready for any attempt to score. Both Angela Coen and Katie O'Sullivan were superb in goal as were the Power's strong supportive defensive players including: Sarah Biscardi, Madeline Condulis, Danielle Ventre, and Nicolette Giammona. The Power's strong defense repeatedly cleared the ball to the midfield where Morgan Rix, Emma Gong, Allison Schmidt, Ariana Kerantzas, Alex Manning and Claire Murphy brought the ball into the Power's offensive zone. The skilled, controlled and tough offense battled for possession passing the ball to each other. The Power's offense including: Fiona MacLeod, Jamie Silk, Gabrielle Marcoux and Angela Coen were all determined to score and obtain a Power victory. The girls never backed down even though they were being challenged by several of the Heat Players at one time. With the help of her team, Angela Coen scored the only goal of the game giving the Power even more confidence to keep the Heat down! In the recent fall season, the Power lost to the Valley Stream Heat 1-0 and this time the Power just couldn't let it happen again. Coach Gong and Coach Silk prepared the Power to come out and play a determined and focused game. The Power put the fire out and the field cooled down and the Power beat the Heat 1-0. The team was supported by two of their injured players, Katie DeGearo and Bridget Dean. This victory marks the third win a row for the Power Team, who also won on May 9th beating the Glen Cove Rising Starz 3-0. We are all so proud of you Power!!!
