Memorial Day Interfaith Prayer Service

Mother Debra Low-Skinner Members of the Garden City Clergy Fellowship (GCCF) again will take part in the annual Memorial Day Interfaith Prayer Service, to be held on Monday, May 25 at the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation starting at 9 a.m. The public is cordially invited to attend this special prayer service. Also in attendance will be: service men and women and color guards from many branches of the armed forces; representatives of the Garden City Police and Fire Departments; Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; veterans who served in wars past and present; and members of the William Bradford Turner Post of the American Legion.

The Ven. Theodore Bean, Provost of the Cathedral, will offer words of welcome and the call to worship. Deacon George Browne, President of the GCCF and Deacon at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church will read the lesson from the Book of Micah. The Rev. Debra Low-Skinner, Rector of Christ Episcopal Church, will offer the homily. Fr. Rudyferio Pesongco of St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church will offer prayers of thanksgiving for national life. And Rabbi Stephen Goodman, of the Garden City Jewish Center, will offer the blessing. Music will be provided by Larry Tremsky and the music staff of the Cathedral. The GCCF thanks The Rev. Canon Joseph Pae, Canon Pastor of the Cathedral, for planning and coordinating this interfaith prayer service.

East View of Cathedral of the Incarnation The Cathedral of the Incarnation is located at 50 Cathedral Avenue, between 5th and 6th Streets. Following the service, the public can then proceed at 10 a.m. to the Garden City Middle School to watch the official ceremony and the Memorial Day Parade. The parade route goes down Cherry Valley Avenue, 10th Street, Franklin Avenue, and 7th Street. Following the parade, the public is invited to attend the Cathedral's Memorial Day Fair from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
