In Memoriam
Louis Martone, a 49 year resident of Garden City, passed away on February 26. He was 95. Louis was the beloved husband of the late Therese; devoted father of Barbara Salvesen (John), and Elizabeth LeSueur (Paul). He was the proud grandfather of Paul Maggie), Sarah, Bethany and Peter LeSueur, Jessica Scott (Jonathan), and John Salvesen; and the loving great grandfather of Jonathan Jackson Scott and Luke Xavier LeSueur. Louis graduated from Cornell University in 1934 and NYU Law in 1936. After serving 8 years as a New York City fireman, he had a private law practice until 1976. He then worked as a law clerk for the Brooklyn Supreme Court until 1996. Louis was a long time member of the Cherry Valley Club enjoying not only the golf, but the friendships developed over the years. A service was held at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Garden City. Louis was a man of great optimism, infinite wisdom, and unrounding love for his family. He will be greatly missed.
Jerome A. Coyle Jerome A. Coyle, Jr., 92, died peacefully, Sunday, May 10,2009, surrounded by members of his family. He was born March 11, 1917, in Brooklyn, New York to Jerome A. Coyle, Sr. and Juliette Colin Coyle. He graduated in 1938 from Fordham University with an A. B. in Economics, Math and Philosophy. From 1941 to 1947, Mr. Coyle served on active duty with the United States Army in the Coast Artillery, rising to the rank of Major. He sold insurance for Allstate, owning his own agency in New York. Twenty years ago, he and his wife, Mary Francis, moved from their home in Garden City and retired to Williamsburg to be closer to their family. Mr. Coyle is survived by his wife, Mary F. Coyle, with whom he celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last year; son, Jerome A. Coyle, III and his wife Bonnie of Williamsburg and their sons Michael Davis (Jenna) and John Barrett Coyle; son Timothy Andrew Coyle and his wife Betty Wade of Norfolk and their sons Patrick Wyatt and Andrew Taylor Coyle; son Thomas John Coyle of Miami, Florida; and daughter Catherine Mary Mascelli and her husband Chuck of Scranton, Pa. and their children Juliana, John Christopher, and Matthew Thomas Mascelli. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, Va. 23188.
